The design inspiration of the “Hai Cuo Tu” diary notebook comes from the cute images of Qian Niu (潜牛), Yin Yu (印鱼), Si Sai Lu Yu (四腮鲈鱼), and other marine creatures depicted in the “Hai Cuo Tu” collection housed in the Forbidden City. “Hai Cuo Tu” is an eccentric marine life atlas drawn by Nie Huang, a cartoonist and avid biologist of the early Qing Dynasty, who was deeply admired by Emperor Qianlong.
